Jia Yu, a Multimedia student from The One Academy, joined XiMnet Malaysia back in February for three months for his industrial training. Let’s hear about his experience in being a part of the fast-paced team.

Feeling Loved at Home
If I am to describe XiMnet in one work, it will be?—?home. Despite the amount of work we have as a team, we spent time celebrating little things in our lives. From the BBQ party at the Chief Alchemist’s home during the Chinese New Year to birthday bashes, the team often shows love towards one another, just like how we’d treat our family members.

Feeling Inadequate Is Normal
I quietly felt inadequate and pressured during my first week at work but I was assured that it’s normal. Nonetheless, I got a lot of support from the team members as I was slowly adapting the work culture. Three months have passed and the biggest improvement that I have made is to be more responsible as a person.

To Live Is To Learn
During my internship at XiMnet, I was constantly guided by my seniors in supporting our clients’ websites. I also learnt how to build a website with XTOPIA?—?A proprietary application and website builder. The most exciting experience I got was to be part of the product development team! It was only three months but the amount of knowledge I gained was tremendous.

I learned that work culture does not need to be cold or harsh. People can perform just as good, if not better, in a loving environment as well. Thank you for the roller-coaster ride and I wish XiMnet and Team the very best.
